Johnson Counter (Twisted Ring Counter) Structure and Working Explained with Simulation

This video explains the structure and working of Johnson Counter (twisted ring counter). Here you will find the simulation (animation) of Johnson Counter. This video uses a free online circuit simulator software.
Johnson Counter is a synchronous counter. To implement 'n' bit Johnson Counter, it is required to have 'n' flip flops.
In Johnson Counter, the complemented output of the last flip flop is connected to input of the first flip flop.
Johnson Counter is one of the most important type of shift register counter.
So we can say that Johnson counter is a ring counter with an inversion.
Johnson Counter is known by other names like - twisted ring counter, creeping counter, switch tail counter, mobile counter or walking counter.
